This is West Coast centric.  Harvard was the East Coast.  Though it must 
be pointed out that the East Coast scene was much more intent upon belly 
button lint.  As such the outgrowth of pop culture from the West Coast 
has had a much larger impact.

innovate == buy/steal/embrace-extend cool technology, biz model, or 
  what-have-you and claim it for your own
