True, but in this case you can erease the driver whenever you don't
use it. Say, if you want to save file A, you copy it to the ESFS
partitions, then erease the driver, and copy those images in a pen
drive, or whatever medium you want. When you want to retrieve it, you
can just download the driver and cat the file. So, may be the "FS"
part of the name is wrong, since you use it as a filesystem, but it
isn't intended to be there all the time. Currently, it uses a kind of
cache of objects in memory, so the idea isn't that while you are using
it, if someone is lurking through your RAM, he/she won't be able to
find anything, the protection will be present once you just have the
images.

Yes, if someone has in his mind that you are hiding something,
whatever, you can be tortured or put in jail, etc, etc, for no reason.
So nothing is perfect in this sense. Recent (and passed) history has
taught us that you don't need to be guilty to be accused of something
and be charged with it.
Be that as it is, ESFS isn't intended to be a replacement or a
competition to fine pieces of software as TrueCrypt. So if you intend
to encrypt your home directory, or the whole root partition, please
don't use ESFS. On the other hand, once we have work a lot more in
ESFS, and you want to save some files in kind of a "locker", *then* I
would say that you can use this.

Of course, the techniques I've used have their disadvantages. Right
now, yes, it's horrifly inefficient, but for now it's kind of a toy,
that may be with some time and hard work it will become a fine piece
of security software.

I tried to define it as thoroughly as I could, but evidently that
isn't sufficient yet. I'll work on that, thanks for pointing that out.
But, I'm not sure that "it works" from the point of view of something
that will assure the safety of your data. I've designed this as
careful as I can, but I'm not by far an expert in all this, so I've
probably missed a lot of things. That's why I made it public.
I'm learning here, I didn't planned to teach anybody anything with
this project, but I wanted to make it public so I can hear opinions
like yours, and learn from them. So, thanks a lot for taking your time
to answer.
Currently, someone I really respect and has a lot more experience that
I do in security, has accepted to audit the whole project. So I hope
with his hand and everybody else that wants to help us, we will make
ESFS a better project, or kill it completely if it's trash for real :)
