In theory, what you say is incorrect.

They may take you in but, in court they have to prove it was yours.
It is not your responsibility to prove your innocence.
It is their responsibility to prove your guilt.

In theory YOU are correct also but that implies a belief that the court system:


1) Never gets it wrong.

2) Is not compromised.

3) Is not overwhelmed by political ambitions attempting to make "an arrest" in order to make headlines.

If none of that is the case, you are still left with the old case of "throw shit and it sticks". Eg, if you are accused, you are always suspect even if the case is never proven. Try to get a good job in a sensitive area thereafter.
