[Full-Disclosure] Worthwhile Security Certs / Courses (UK)

HI, first time post so sorry if this is off topic.  
 
I currently work as an network admin and part time application developer but
I am thinking of a  career shift into infosec and would like some advice on
the best education path for a relative newcomer to this field any UK
specific info would be especially useful as would any free online resources
for a good grounding.
